kosh init

Overview

kosh init is the first command you run on a new machine. It generates a user keypair and writes the default configuration to ~/.kosh/config.toml.

Usage

kosh init

What it does

1. Generates an X25519 user keypair
2. Derives an encryption key via Argon2id
3. Writes ~/.kosh/config.toml with default workspace and environment settings
4. Stores the encrypted private key in the local keystore

Example

$ kosh init
✓ Generated user key
✓ Wrote ~/.kosh/config.toml

Notes

• Running kosh init on a machine where Kosh is already initialized will prompt you before overwriting.
• Your private key never leaves your machine in plaintext.
• To use team sync, you will need a server token, see kosh login.
